Power tools were thought to get rid of tradesmen but they actually increased demand. The craft changed though from limited output hand crafted structures to more process oriented and things like a shared code of standard to build to.
If AI can do a good amount of the heavy lifting it stands to reason we can standardize a lot as well as expect productivity to rocket for workers. I’d expect more demand.
- DonsDiscountGas 4y agoHistorically this has been the case with technology, but also the rate of technological change has been a lot slower than the pace at which humans can learn new things. If it takes 2 years to train a human in something new and 2 months (or 2 days) to train an AI, that's a situation without historical precedent.

We’ll be able to build more novel things with AI as a helper and accelerator. I think the 80/20 law will remain unbroken in that AI will get us 80% of the way there but we’ll have 20% that’s completely novel.
