Any elaboration on why do you find Cryptonomicon in particular worth re-reading? It seemed pretty verbose.

- world2vec 4y agoIt is very verbose, wacky and all over the place, and that's precisely why I like to re-read it every 3 years or so. ;)
- e12e 4y agoMy theory is that after the success of Diamond Age, editors stopped cutting the manuscripts down to the third that was good... :'(
- stevenwoo 4y agoI just finished Anathem and felt like the first eighty percent needed a story editor to cut that down, and there were alot of places where he slipped and let some modern tone into the narration instead of speaking consistently in character for the narrator.
- weard_beard 4y agoBingo
- linsomniac 4y agoThat's a good question, because I don't tend to re-read books a lot, I'm a slow reader, but I've read the thousand page Cryptonomicon 3 times and listened to the audiobook once. It is long, but it doesn't feel like it to me. I'm in the same boat for Daemon+Freedom(tm)
