Before long we'll have AI 'sensitivity readers' to purify digital content in real-time.

- natpalmer1776 4y agoWell, that would be an improvement over changing the source material. At that point you elect to have the changes made by choice of reader.
- pessimizer 4y agoAfter a few iterations with different AIs over a few decades, you'll have to find somebody who still has a paper copy. I would say to thank god for piracy, but the odds that we'll be able to run computers that aren't continually scanning for the rights, authenticity and content of the files on them are nil.
- mc32 4y agoHopefully they’ll have different modes: Full throttle mode (and) Grandma mode.
- jonhohle 4y agoI’m assuming Full Throttle means as much modern interpretation of older texts and maximum modifications; while Grandma means keeping the book the way it was, why do they always have to change things, in my day we read whatever book we could find and we liked it? I know no Grandmas that like when things they had on their youth are changed.
- chiefalchemist 4y agoFull throttle? Or full frontal? ;)
- RobotToaster 4y agoGPT-451
- thrill 4y agoWell played.
- dwighttk 4y agoWhat’s the flashpoint of a Kindle?
- natpalmer1776 4y agoAfter the bare minimum amount of "research" the flash point of PP plastic is 300 degrees celsius. So Fahrenheit 572.
- ryandrake 4y agoWe haven't really come a long way from CleanFlicks[1] where they would take mainstream movies and edit out all the Jesus-unfriendly bits for the other flavor of 'sensitive readers'. Interestingly, that service got sued out of existence over copyright. I wonder if future AI-based on-the-fly purifiers will run into the same trouble? 1: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CleanFlicks https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CleanFlicks
- cld8483 4y agoI predict that creative innuendo will always stay one step ahead of the AI censors, which will always be playing catch-up. It's just another form of euphemism treadmill. When I was in public school, the adults got sick of kids using the word "retarded" as an insult so they renamed the class for people with actual disabilities to "special education". So kids started calling each other "special" as an insult synonymous with "retarded". Euphemism treadmills always lag, they're reactive and can't keep up with the rate at which people can invent new insults.
