Fox News is a serious problem. It total undermines the integrity of the Republican party for a lot of Democratic voters. The two are not the same though, Fox News doesn't represent the Republican party.

  Except it does, quite intentionally: It was specifically created to prevent what happened to Nixon from ever happening again. He was forced to resign from the Presidency, or he was going to be impeached (by both Republican and Democratic Representatives) and convicted (by both Republican and Democratic Senators) for the crimes he commit and ordered while in office. And it worked, by ensuring the Republican base and politicians were in lockstep with each other as well as the policies supported by their major donors (such as Fox’s owners), so when another President commit extremely serious crimes in office the vote was almost entirely party-line.

"If this were another cable news outlet like CNN or MSNBC, everyone involved would be fired already, never to work again in the industry." This is not a defense of Fox News but I strongly doubt that CNN or MSNBC would handle this any better.
