EU biggest mistake is not making "another internet" to nurture their homegrown big techs.
- nradov 4y agoHow exactly could the EU have blocked Wikipedia, Apple, YouTube, Facebook, etc throughout the entire bloc? That seems politically unrealistic and contrary to the founding principles. The EU tried to grow some local big techs with government subsidies but the results were predictably garbage. The Airbus business model doesn't transfer well to consumer technology. If the EU really wants homegrown big techs then they need to reduce employee protections, eliminate red tape, encourage venture capital markets, and make business bankruptcies easier.
