ImagineAI: A code generator that turns your app spec into a Node project
- _boffin_ 4y agoit's cool, but I'm not seeing why you have "ai" in it, as it seems like it's just a large templating system.
- marstall 4y agoyes. this looks useful, but is it different fundamentally from the scaffolding generators that come with react, rails, Xcode, etc?
- _boffin_ 4y agoit reminds me of Spring Initializer
- jeleh 4y agoClickbait? Its just the domain (.ai), the project has nothing to do with AI and this nice platform has seen better times: Last release Imagine v1.1.1: July 2, 2021
- aliqot 4y agoit's AI in the sense that watson is "AI"
- NayamAmarshe 4y agoWhy don't more services like this exist? This is great! I can have a pre-generated backend, with all the right configuration and I'm surprised that there aren't many GUI to Backend generator services available.
- senko 4y agoThere are, for example https://apibakery.com/ https://apibakery.com/ (I'm the author). If done carefully, the addition of AI will make those services even better (which doesn't seem to be case here, as far as I can see it's just a domain name).
- sshb 4y agoI've also taken a shot at a similar thing (no GUI though!) https://github.com/sashabaranov/pike https://github.com/sashabaranov/pike
- languagehacker 4y agoNifty, but this doesn't seem faster than just generating a Django app by hand if you've done it enough times. I'd prefer to cargo-cult my own best practices into a project over some random AI's.
- mensetmanusman 4y agoImagine being able to describe an app with a few paragraphs, and then suddenly, it exists. This future is coming soon.
- nigamanth 4y agoDamn, you should add Laravel and MySQL too. This is going to be the next Google for real.
- datavirtue 4y agoVery nice. Does it also build out authentication and authorization? Login, and JWT validation would be very nice. I mentor new prospective developers and this would be a great help in surmounting all of the complexity we have to deal with in getting a project to a point where you can start actually building an app. A lot of people who would otherwise be interested in development get overwhelmed with ancillary crap (setting up a basic nodejs express project, for example).
- senko 4y agoNot op, but I have a similar project which does handle auth and a few other extra goodies like bg workers and dev shell: https://apibakery.com https://apibakery.com It uses a bearer token instead of JWT tho, for reasons outlined here: https://apibakery.com/blog/tech/no-jwt/ https://apibakery.com/blog/tech/no-jwt/ (HN discussion here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33019960 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33019960)
- gremlinsinc 4y agoWish this was opensource (if it is I couldn't find the link) - I'd gladly work on the Laravel versions.
