NBA Jam Tournament Edition for the arcade had a CPU with bitwise addressing https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/TMS34010 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/TMS34010 and the programmers used the lower 3 bits of pointers to store extra values. Source: a friend of mine ported the game to the PC by hand-transcoding the assembly.
