Expat in Germany here... that isn't my impression. Rather, many Germans are determined to avoid any kind of military might, display, leadership, and that sort of thing.
So they became Ukraine's third biggest donor while seeming totally reluctant, never displaying any kind of leadership, see?
- dekhn 4y agoWhat is the source of avoiding might and leadership? Modesty? Fear of being mistaken for 1938?
- Arnt 4y agoNo, not being mistaken for 1938. More making any mistake similar to those in 1938 or 1916. Read about Germany's behaviour towards Belgians during WW1, for example. It's not well known in the greater world, but all of the Germans learned about that in school, and learned that pretty much everything they did involving wars was terrible, whether in 1900 in China, 1906 in Namibia, 1916 in Belgium or during the Nazi time. IMO it's quite appropriate that they hesitate a little too long now.
