Elk: Open-Source Mastodon Web Client Now Available on GitHub
- samwillis 4y agoI've been using Elk for the last few weeks, it's really good and a brilliant example of how to build a performant PWA. I prefer it to the standard client and the others I have tried. It "feels native" despite being written in JS with Vue. It's incredible what they have achieved in such a short about of time, the first commit was November 13th. It's a testament to both the people building it but also the tools they are using, Vue.js and Nuxt. A number of the developers are core team members of Vue and Nuxt so it is the perfect codebase to study for inspiration and direction on how to use them.

- erlend_sh 4y agoThere’s also a Tauri-based native client in the works, which will presumably support mobile down the line. https://github.com/elk-zone/elk-native https://github.com/elk-zone/elk-native https://m.webtoo.ls/@unsafe/109478958234251616 https://m.webtoo.ls/@unsafe/109478958234251616
- solarkraft 4y agoThis may fill the hole that Pinafore might leave for some (it just became unmaintained and it's not clear who will pick it up).
- worldsavior 4y agoWhat is the different between this and mastdoon website?
- danielroe 4y agoYou can check out the differences by comparing https://elk.zone https://elk.zone to https://mastodon.social https://mastodon.social (for example).
