Show HN: Piano Chord Player
- jmkd 4y agoLovely tool! Suggestion: colorized keys should be off by default as some colours are difficult to distinguish if active or not eg those against yellow keys.
- patchorang 4y agoNice, this will be a great reference for me as I'm learning all my chords. I built a little app the other day to help me practice the chords, you might like it. https://chords.adammenz.com/ https://chords.adammenz.com/
- brulard 4y agoWould be awesome to detect chords played on Midi keyboard and score points. I'm thinking of implementing something like that as I need to practice for my music theory course (one from Max Konyi which I really like so far)
- patchorang 4y agoHey I added this in if you want to check it out. https://www.learnyourchords.com https://www.learnyourchords.com
- shampoo_banana 4y agoReally cool man! I think a nice feature could be search chords by scale (so I click C major scale and then I get all the chords + variations in C Major).
- boojing 4y agoProps for making such a beautiful and useful website! I was surprised to see how well it works on both mobile and desktop. What did you use for the search feature at the top?
- thisisseb 4y agoThanks so much! I'm using Fuse.js: https://fusejs.io/ https://fusejs.io/, which parses through a JSON file with all the post titles and descriptions.
- jrm4 4y agoNice. Let me also put this idea out there that I've fantasized about (and basically just decided to make in "analog" by cutting up paper) A thing that lets you enter multiple chords (like you might see on e.g. the guitar tab/chord site) and shows multiple rows of keyboards so that it's easy to see the progressions and exactly how each note moves. Even with my "analog" version I really like how e.g. "Dm to F" doesn't naturally yet for me trigger any similarity, but when I look on my little pieces of paper, it's just like, oh, the D becomes a C and that's the only difference, and also it's easy to see the possible fingerings of multiple inversions.
- wonderfilled 4y agoBookmarked and looking at those other music/theory tools at the bottom - wonderful
- kshay 4y agoNeat! One idea might be to switch it to one octave at smaller (mobile) viewport widths... the keys get a little small :)
- shidoshi 4y agoThis was fun. Really dig the arpeggiator.
- antegamisou 4y agoAt last, a functioning chord player for piano. As unbelievable as this sounds, none of the respective results on the first page of Google are working and I've been looking for something like this for about two years. Thank you OP.
- conradfr 4y agoThere's also this one from a previous Show HN https://pianochord.io https://pianochord.io
- jankyxenon 4y agoGreat work - very usable tool. I'll visit often. Well done!
- dbcurtis 4y agoLovely!! Very well done. I’d love an inversion switch… not sure how to do that without cluttering the UI. Overall beautiful and super functional.
- FpUser 4y agoBeautiful work.
- SeriousM 4y agoThere are many more tools too! https://muted.io/tools/ https://muted.io/tools/
