Show HN: BingeTheTube: binge YouTube channels from oldest to latest
Briefly, what the app does:
1. Points to a reverse playlist(an actual youtube playlist) for a channel.
2. Ability to skip to a position in playlist from beginning.
3. Request any new channel you would like to have a reverse playlist for !
Usage eg:
- Using the above you can skip to say 100th video from begining in a channel
(e.g CaseeyNeistat Vlog) and keep watching on youtube app (without going back to bingethetube.com).
- Come back next day and resume watching from say video 120 without a lot of scrolling
Useful if you like to follow a creators youtube journey or old Vlogs !

- AdamJacobMuller 4y agoThat's neat. I tried writing something like this a while back but ran into limits in the YouTube API for adding items to playlists and gave up trying to ask them to raise the limits. Your email validator is rejecting my valid adam@adam.gs email btw.
- bingethetube 4y agoThanks for checking it out. Yes the email validator is not the best as of now. Anyway i see you have put in your channel request, thanks for the patience, expect your playlist to be up soon and fix for email validator as well (y)
- lathiat 4y agoYouTube recently removed the ability to sort video on a channel from oldest to newest. It used to be in the app. I wish I understood why. It’s common to want to go back through a channels catalogue there must be some stupid reason like wanting to discourage viewing old unpopular videos that are cold cached or something? I don’t know. If anyone has any ideas…
- maxbond 4y agoMy assumption has to be that they want to push you into the recommendation stream.
- Alifatisk 4y agoYoutube is one of those services that actively pushes features with anti-patterns. - Their subscribe button has 4 modes if I remember correctly - They removed sorting on youtube channels - My subscription feed is ”personilsed”, so all the new content is not shown directly - Dislike button gone When will this hell stop? I am forced to use youtube because the content is only there!
- chii 4y ago> I am forced to use youtube because the content is only there! which is why they will not stop, because they know you don't have any choice. The changes they put in are likely trying to achieve a goal that is not aligned to you as a user (whatever it might be).
