I went to UT Austin for undergrad and Stanford for graduate school. I think my interactions with authority were much, much more pleasant at Stanford than at UT. Mostly because the cops were really understanding and supportive. I frequently hosted parties (some large) at both, and not once did they come to stop me at Stanford, whereas in Austin it was always a risk. That said, I suspect that's the campus police, the administrators seem to be different. And I am sad to see that they are pushing for punishing fun.
