- allarm 4y agoI highly recommend reading Strugatsky’s books. I can’t say anything about the quality of translation, I’ve read them in original. But overall it’s the most enjoyable books in the genre I’ve ever read.
- wrp 4y agoIf you are well read in the US/UK science fiction traditions, the Strugatsky's offer a pleasantly novel perspective. It's been many years, but I think Roadside Picnic was my favorite.
- defrost 4y agoTangentially Yawning Heights (or Abysmal Heights) by Zinovievis classed as speculative fiction and compared to the writings of Jonathan Swift, Lewis Carroll, and others. Neither science fiction nor fantasy per se, it's still the kind of book that finds itself somewhat adjacent to those on my shelves at least.
