Accurately estimating the number of legal chess positions
- dekhn 4y agoInteresting. Counting problems that aren't trivial are often interesting. Much of my training in protein folding was counting- basically, finding the correct normalizing denominator for some process, like "how many different non-self-intersecting paths are there in a 2d matrix". It can get mind-bendingly complex because of symmetries and removing all the self-intersections.
