- nostrebored 4y agoThis is entirely personal taste and ephemeral. Flour tortillas stay together a bit better if you’re not eating them immediately. But from a taste perspective, after you’ve had both a few times, it’s easy to appreciate why they complement different types of tacos.
- bamboozled 4y agoFully disagree
- lambic2 4y agoI really prefer the taste of corn tortillas over wheat tortillas, so it's subjective. My favorite by far is blue corn tortillas. Coincidentally blue corn is pretty impressive nutritionally: https://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/news/20070730/blue-corn-tortilla-packs-healthy-punch https://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/news/20070730/blue-corn-t...
- ElevenLathe 4y agoThis is a very wild statement. They are very very different. It's hard to understand how to even compare them. Are pancakes better than naan? Is congee better than grits?
- hombre_fatal 4y agoSome people just don’t like corn tortillas. Wheat tortillas have their benefits like how they don’t dry out as easily and they brown in the pan nicer and they have some sort of sweetness. I almost always reach for corn tortillas but definitely appreciate a wheat tortilla. Wheat tortillas are also an obvious choice if you’re stuck choosing between packaged tortillas. The reason corn and wheat tortillas are compared is because they are the two options given to you, so they aren’t hard to compare. You can get the same taco in each tortilla in the same sitting and come to a conclusion of which one you prefer right then and there.
- ElevenLathe 4y agoI mean yeah you can compare your preferences about which is a better taco wrapper, but there are many dishes where it makes little sense to swap one for the other. Enchiladas with flour tortillas? That's a totally different dish that I've never even heard of. Chimichangas with corn tortillas? I'm not sure it's possible. Can you make tortilla chips out of flour tortillas? I don't know but if you can, they'll be much different than normal tortilla chips.
- comte7092 4y agoMost people don’t seem to understand than you need to reheat corn tortillas in a dry skillet, and therefore think corn tortillas are bad because they’ve only eaten dry mealy versions. It’s like eating day old rice cold out of the refrigerator and saying that it doesn’t taste good, like yeah, it doesn’t. Corn tortillas prepared fresh are delicious and if you haven’t had them then that’s a shame.
- mrguyorama 4y agoI have had fresh, straight from a pro, corn tortillas. I just don't like how corn meal tastes (except as a bread with equal parts butter) so I don't like corn "bread" products.
- comte7092 4y agoI personally like both. There is no requirement that you must like corn tortillas, but to act like one is objectively better, rather than simply a matter of personal preference, is ridiculous. (Not that you said this, but the original post I responded to did)
