I keep notes as I work, so it is easier to know what I was doing before, or grepping how I solved that problem that happens every 6 months. For programming, using a strong type system has had a similar effect in being able to dive into an old codebase. I am thinking specifically of Elm lang, but with Typescript as well. EDIT: grammar
