When coyotes attacked, a dog killed 8 of them, saving a flock of sheep
- hirundo 4y agoI have a 60 pound Golden Retriever in a rural area that is completely saturated with coyotes. She has "conversations" with them almost nightly over the fence. I'd bet on her to survive a couple of them, but of course a pack of eleven would be the end of her. The coyotes haven't crossed the fence as far as I know, but it's barely five feet high, so they could hop it with ease if they wanted to. I want to get her a puppy for a companion, and one who could help in a fight. I've been thinking Labrador, but Great Pyrenees now also sounds like a good choice.
- renewedrebecca 4y agoGerman Shepherds are good for this too, and as a bonus are pretty amazing herders.
- brian_spiering 4y agoAgreed! My 95lb German Shepherd / White Swiss Shepherd chases away packs of coyotes and bears.
- dunefox 4y agoRottweiler as well. One of the best would be a Komondor due to the fur.
- brettermeier 4y agoGet a donkey, they also smash hyenas for fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t5eOK05mZQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t5eOK05mZQ
- devwastaken 4y agoDonkeys are herd protectors. However they are quite loud.

- tibbydudeza 4y agoIt is a Great Pyrenees breed (it is rather large) which is livestock protector but it's mate in the same compound was pregnant at the time which probably drove it to the extreme and take on a pack of 11.
