I am not laid off yet but the org I am part of, in one of the FAANGs, is rumored to have layoffs in December or Q1 next year. I have been with this company for almost a decade, am one of the top performers and think I am close to a promotion to the staff level - despite all of that, I am cognizant of the fact that none of this matters when it comes to layoffs and I am as likely to be laid of as any other person in my org.
