> its virtual private network (VPN)
it's not theirs, it's mullvad ones

- tyingq 4y agoTrue, though the mozilla client is their own, and seems to be somewhat customized, like using only wireguard.
- Kukumber 4y agothey can reskin what they want, the press still spread an incorrect information
- capableweb 4y agoIs Brave (and similar browsers) not their own browsers because the rendering engine is the same as what others use? Similarly, was Chrome not Google's browser when they were using Webkit?
- Kukumber 4y ago> Mozilla has partnered with Mullvad in order to utilize our global network of VPN servers for its own VPN application, Mozilla VPN, since July 2019. Mozilla uses Mullvad VPN, they built their VPN Client application using wireguard Therefore, it's a VPN Client, not "their VPN", VPN = virtual private network, it's not their "network" Chrome Browser = VPN Client Google Services = VPN Brave made a browser using chromium, but they do not use Google's servers/services, so its their browser Understand the difference now?
- mtlmtlmtlmtl 4y agoYou must be fun at parties.
- Kukumber 4y agoWill that help us have fun on the moon? or should it be someone else?
- mtlmtlmtlmtl 4y agoNo idea what that's supposed to mean but I'm sure it was very clever.
- Kukumber 4y agoIt's not about being clever, it's about being correct
- mtlmtlmtlmtl 4y agoThere's being correct, then there's being pedantic.
- tyingq 4y ago>they can reskin The client isn't a reskin of Mullvad's client. https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/mozilla-vpn-client https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/mozilla-vpn-client
- deafpolygon 4y agoIs that bad, or good?
- systems 4y agofor mozilla neither, for mullvad probably good, i think many trust the mozilla brand more than mullvad mullvad is an average vpn provider also its important to note, that many question that VPNs provide any security at all , i think for 7 dollars you pay their email relay and phone masking seem like the more interesting feature and value
- hardwaresofton 4y ago> mullvad is an average vpn provider I was under the impression that mullvad was best-in-breed. A lot of bad VPN companies running around these days and Mullvad is a clear HN favorite.
- zinodaur 4y agoMullvad UX is pretty sweet - I especially like how they don't force signups, and still let you open ports. I wish there was a premium tier to let you pay for more bandwidth though, the fact that down speeds are capped at 300MBPS and up speeds much less made it not really usable for me
- sodality2 4y agoI have never experienced this cap. I downloaded at gigabit last time I used it.
- everfrustrated 4y agoProblem is Mullvad is too reputable. I find everything is blocked as their IPs are very well known and on all lists.
- jorisvansoest 4y agoaverage? Have you read this? [1] I think they do a lot more then other VPN providers! To name a few: - no logging (no hdd in their servers even!) - pay with cash (via post) - audit of their infra [1] https://mullvad.net/en/help/no-logging-data-policy/ https://mullvad.net/en/help/no-logging-data-policy/
