To be honest, I don't understand some people's "faith" in Twitter.
In my view, Twitter (like all social media) is completely replaceable. There's nothing about it, technology wise, that can't be copied with some infrastructure, some money and a some dev work.
Like all social media, Twitter's golden goose is the user and mind share. If they start losing net accounts or momentum, it's never good news.
Twitter's problems seem to be precisely growing negative user perception.

- wooger 4y agoGrowing negative user perception has been ongoing for 5+ years, but mainly due to insane partisan censorship over particular pet issues by the US twitter staff like gender stuff. Hundreds of women banned from twitter for stating their reasonable objections to political proposals.
- yunty 4y agoThe really insidious thing about the censorship around gender activism is that it removes the language required to form a reasonable objection. To take one example, when trans-identifying male Lia Thomas won a women's swimming competition earlier this year, it was a very controversial topic that was much discussed on Twitter, with the gender critical point of view being that men shouldn't be permitted to compete in women's sports, and he was essentially cheating by doing so, due to his physical advantage of being male. However, if you referred to him as anything other than a woman, or used pronouns other than "she" or "her", this would get your tweet removed and even your account suspended, sometimes permanently. Even though it entirely undermines the argument against his participation. Not that this is a new phenomenon or only applies to Twitter - gender critical feminists have been warning about this type of linguistic sabotage for quite some years now, e.g. https://fairplayforwomen.com/pronouns https://fairplayforwomen.com/pronouns
