- WantonQuantum 4y agoIt’s okay though because Twitter has announced an upcoming “Official” tag that will take the place of the blue thing and work the same way the blue thing did. A year from now they’ll announce a premium subscription that allows you to have the “Official” tag and shortly thereafter they’ll announce an “Acutally Offical” tag. Rinse repeat.

- senttoschool 4y agoHoly cow. Twitter is falling apart fast. Musk desperately orders features in and out. Advertisers pull out or sit on the sidelines. Revenue falls. Musk tries even more desperate things. More advertisers leave. Musk needs to sell more TSLA to fund Twitter experiment. This could be the downfall of Elon.

- paulpauper 4y agoI am seeing so many verified accounts now. This is going to be insanity. I don't see how this is sustainable. I think the $8 verification scheme will be scrapped. It will have to be $8 + paperwork. Existing verified accounts will be grandfathered in
- MBCook 4y agoBut they’re not. Because the checkmark doesn’t mean verified anymore. The moment you could pay for it it lost all meaning. That’s why they added the “Official” thing, which Elon quickly cancelled. Or uncancelled? I’ve lost track. We’re going to end up exactly where we were, after everyone departs. Fixing Twitter Blue to be more useful is a great idea. Making verification more transparent is fine. Adding a badge or something for Twitter Blue people so they can show off is fine. Making all three things the same? Terrible idea. I feel like he didn’t understand what verification really was, thinking it was a “you’re cool” vanity mark. And all this is the consequences.
- papito 4y agoYou'd do that if you had spent, like, 5 minutes thinking about this. Apparently Elon's physics major is not easily translating into understanding moderation or social dynamics.
