If you are already working remote, why limit yourself to jobs from your local market? There is of course no guarantee, and right now is probably not the best time for it, but you seemingly can afford to spend time searching for something new that does pay well too?
- Xenoamorphous 4y agoThank you. The thing is, my salary is still like 2x what I could get in the country with the highest salaries (UK) in a slimiar timezone to mine. So I’d still be looking at getting my income halved.
- badpun 4y agoIn Europe, it's not hard to get 600 EUR per day if your skills are in demand. Since you're currently a contractor, are you getting 1200 EUR per day? If that's the case, I'd probably stay and bank that money for a couple more years, and possibly into early retirement.
- Xenoamorphous 4y agoNot making 1200 as it’s a permanent position, I was a contractor with them for a while (although other than in paper, nothing changed) but it can’t be done long term due to legal issues. And yes I thought about early retirement, it def. sounds good.
- mejutoco 4y agoAre you on payroll or are you invoicing them? I say this because I could imagine maybe the legal issues are the government determining it is not a real contractor but a "fake employee". IMHO, if you are invoicing, OP reasoning regarding pricing stands, regardless of the dynamic day-to-day, since you are paying social security, pension etc. out of your own pocket. If not, please disregard.
