- rektide 4y agoGetting a bunch of folks to develop open source chips is a colossally smart hedge against existential risk. There's been vast consolidation/buy outs in chipmaking, there's been huge supply side shocks... keeping & maintaining chipmaking as a general faculty humanity & google is ok at is incredibly cheap, given the risk it guards against. Simce Im using a rate-limited comment, I want to chip in to remind folks this is a slightly odd process. It's mixed signal, much bulkier & more robust than a logic oriented process. It's not small, but is more ideal for analog signals, rr, power supplies, et-cetera.
