My wife is friends someone a DD sales person. I had no idea what her husband did for a living since I didn't know either. So we go over to their house for dinner and he finds out I'm head of a devops/SRE team and I got a DD sales pitch for close to 2 hours.
I've never wanted to excuse myself to the bathroom and just sit in there doing nothing all night more in all my life.

- FBISurveillance 4y agoNo, it's a common story of what DataDog sales is. Used to be a customer, 7-figures annual invoice with DataDog, not anymore. Heck, working with them for years, I still managed to make a mistake and get 4-figures bill on my personal account. Their sales are worse than paparazzi who spy on celebs. Avoid at all costs.
- shepherdjerred 4y agoI think it speaks more towards salesmen in general than Datadog
- FBISurveillance 4y agoThat's too broad of a generalization tbh. Personal experience: I worked on large contracts with Google Cloud, AWS, DoIT, Cloudflare, and others. I have nothing bad to say about them: they do their job and we move along just fine. Except DataDog - intrusive, borderline stalking behavior.
- xu_ituairo 4y agoOffensive because you work at DD?
- _vertigo 4y agoOffensive?
- ok123456 4y agoIt's relevant. It's a humorous and relatable personal anecdote aka a good story. It's not offensive.
- pryelluw 4y agoThat really sucks.
