It is so refreshing to see a post about this issue. In a nutshell: profits are cool.
- gordonguthrie 15y agoIt is astonishing that so many people don't think so. Techcruch think Facebook making an acquisition hire for a couple of guys is more interesting that a founder selling out a company for $3 and a bit billion. You would weep with laughter if it wasn't so tragic.
- _delirium 15y agoI don't see any necessary relationship between profits and coolness. Lots of boring things are profitable. In fact many boring things are profitable precisely because their boringness means substantial payment is required to convince anyone to do them.
- altcognito 15y agoTrue Hackers are interested in changing and influencing the world and the way it thinks, profits come secondary.
- richardburton 15y agoAgreed but profits allow you to change the world. Bankruptcy does not.
