- dekhn 4y agoThe diplomats in question have a wide range of options available to them including "Elon's plan". however, they are much wiser and more experienced than him, and rightfully ignore him. It wasn't his plan (obviously) and the consequences of following his suggestions would be dire.
- rsynnott 4y agoIn general, appeasing Putin hasn't worked out particularly well for Ukraine (see, for instance, Crimea), so I'm not sure what would make them think that it was a good idea now. The Ukrainian government will presumably be relying on expert advice, rather than weird car manufacturers, here. Based on the presence of the... unusual phrase "Khrushchev's mistake", I'd assume it isn't _his_ plan, anyway; it's something he read on the internet and is regurgitating.
- legitster 4y agoProbably not because there's no reason to think Russia is being serious. Russia's non-negotiable tiny footnote in all of their peace proposals so far has been to take control of the security policy of every surrounding country. Giving them parts of Ukraine and then letting them re-establish the USSR seems like something that will never happen.
