Chicago Sun-Times drops its paywall
- mindcrime 4y agoInteresting. I hope this works out, for multiple reasons. I'm particularly intrigued by this being the Chicago Sun-Times, as Chicago is one of my favorite cities in the US outside of my home (I am from, and live in, North Carolina). I will probably sign up to support these guys, both because I love Chicago and because I generally like the idea of non-paywalled news.
- pyuser583 4y agoI’m really glad to hear this!
- joezydeco 4y agoFor more background, the Sun-Times was scooped up earlier this year by Chicago Public Media, the organization that owns the local NPR radio station WBEZ. https://www.wbez.org/stories/chicago-public-media-will-acquire-the-chicago-sun-times/a31e489a-edad-4c83-9663-a69bf03f5322 https://www.wbez.org/stories/chicago-public-media-will-acqui... The CEO, Matt Moog, has a background in the Chicago tech scene. He's also Bob's son.
- hey2022 4y ago> He’s also Bob’s son. That’s unexpected in a good way! Hope he has the same level of ingenuity and integrity as his dad.
