- imtringued 4y agoIt is annoying but interest rate changes in either direction are a double edged sword. With lower interest rates existing settled land gets more expensive but unsettled land and new construction becomes more affordable. With rising interest rates land becomes more affordable but construction becomes more expensive. This is because ground rent is a residual that is left after you deduct everything else like interest payments. The only thing you can do about land is to abandon the idea of privately owned land and let the government collect ground rent instead.
