Do you need weed to survive?
- jjulius 4y agoIt's a loose comparison, it doesn't have to be perfect and I'm pretty sure you understand the point they're trying to make.
- bergenty 4y agoWe have very specific anadomide receptors in the brain that only respond to weed. Don’t know how much of that is hearsay.
- dekhn 4y agoAnandamide receptors. They don't only respond to weed- cannabis happens to be the only plant we know of that produces large amounts of THC or CBD. Anandamide is a chemical our body makes to stimulate those receptors "endogenously" (IE, for its own inner working). The purpose of anandamide receptors is still quite cryptic, or rather, I would say fairly subtle- it seems to "enhance the experience of pleasure in response to reward".
- monetus 4y agoNot who you responded to but, I do yes. Edit: there is one aed drug I haven't tried, vimpat. Maybe that could stand in, but it overlaps with another I take already, and isn't really meant to be used together. I risk flopping around on the ground playing with those drugs, when after years I'm just now toning down other symptoms like temporary blindness and cluster headaches. Maybe you could call those quality of life things, but they are probably breaking my brain down a bit.
- dekken_ 4y agoWe do a lot of things other than those just to survive. The thing to talk about these days is "quality of life". If cannabis helps, and a person wants to use it, it's not really my business.
