Yeah I actually bought my nephew a fairly well kept up 20 year old crown victoria for his birthday because his single mom couldn't afford a car. So I'm guessing you wouldn't like my purchase, but I was thinking selfishly I suppose about his personal well being.
- hotpotamus 4y agoI don't think that's an especially heavy car. I don't think it's a bad choice, but I suspect a modern unibody sedan will behave a bit better in a crash. And it seems like side protection came a long way in that time too - my 2016 sedan's doors felt like like opening a bank vault after I was used to the thin doors of my 2001 car.
- nradov 4y agoDon't be too confident in your nephew's well being. The Ford Crown Victoria (and similar Panther platform vehicles) has terrible ratings for side impact crashes. https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/ford/crown-victoria-4-door-sedan/2003 https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/ford/crown-victoria-4-d...
