- alexandre-bl 4y agoI don't doubt it. However, the source you've chosen (Correio da Manhã) is famously untrustworthy. It's the butt of many jokes here in Portugal, being regarded as everything a news organization shouldn't be.
- odshoifsdhfs 4y agoIt was declared on his 'declaration of interests' or whatever it is called. Was also published in Eco and Publico (at least saw in these two). And from what I remember, a lot of the politicians in the Parliament also have multiple properties, and lets not even remember the 'Rubles' case.
- keepquestioning 4y agoWe need a cap on property ownership for those in the political class. That's the key to fairer policies.
- borski 4y agoIs it fair to prevent wealthy people from going into politics? Does a politician have to be poor or middle class, or not own homes? At what point do the restrictions begin to become 'unfair'? Some people are born with wealth, which under this system would put them at a disadvantage in politics...fair? Fair always has two sides, and it's "impossible" to come up with a perfectly fair system.
- Elinvynia 4y agoYou can always lose your wealth, pretty much instantly and painlessly. The inverse is not true.
