DALL·E 2 Will Disrupt Art Deeper Than Photography Did

- beardyw 4y agoThere is a misconception that "art" is craft directed at making something fancy looking. Art has always been about communication from one human being to another. Where it is not, it is just decoration or representation. The just representation was disrupted by photography which has found its own niche. DALL-E has nothing to communicate. I love it for making good looking graphics, and if that was my job I should be worried. But graphic designers (I know) don't consider what they produce to be art. When we talk about Picasso and Leonardo Da Vinci we are talking about people. I am not a luddite I just want us to remember not to throw out the baby with the bath water.
