The first reaction in my heart was sadness at this news, complete with many of the thoughts you shared here.
But look at it another way - we were lucky enough to experience it before all of the blooming enhancements.
Also, as annoyed as I also am, it means that even more people will gain familiarity with the general mythology, which is a good thing.
Mythology grows when it is adapted, modified, reimagined, and altered, often imbuing it with fresh vitality and cultural relevance. Consider how many variations are represented in nearly every Ancient Greek myth. I, for one, am delighted that Tolkien's work has risen to the level of myth, and not contained to only his own creative project.
Despite my deep love of Tolkien's work, I do not intend to watch a minute of the new stuff. I wish them luck!

The effect produces fringes (or feathers) of light extending from the borders of bright areas in an image, contributing to the illusion of an extremely bright light overwhelming the camera or eye capturing the scene. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloom_(shader_effect) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloom_(shader_effect) --- At first I thought of a "bloom filter", a kind of data structure. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloom_filter https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloom_filter
