      The timing is actually based on seafloor cores, and finding 41 earthquakes in the last 10,000 years.

    I like the comments, but I was just noting that the original post did not contain the requisite (2015) in the title, but I see that has been fixed now.

    Fortunately we've been geoengineering heavily since 2015. If we work hard enough, we can change the planet so much that "the big one" never arrives!
