NetBSD 9.3 Released
- flatiron 4y agoAnyone use netbsd? Any good use cases? Just wondering its place in the Linux/FreeBSD/OpenBSD world.
- implements 4y agoNot a user, but it appears it has Bluetooth support - unlike OpenBSD.
- rjsw 4y agoI'm using it to write this post.
- xianwen 4y agoWhy do you prefer to use NetBSD? What do you use NetBSD for?
- pxc 4y agoIsn't breadth and duration of hardware support one of NetBSD's claims to fame? (My understanding is that this is not about things like x86 peripheral coverage so much as CPU architectures.) Portability is one of the top priorities for NetBSD IIRC, which is one of the reasons you can use its package manager on other operating systems, like Linux or macOS. It's a good one, too!
- helf 4y agoI love netBSD change logs. They always list stuff like bug fixes or new support for old stuff like Amigas or the Dreamcast lol
- SllX 4y agoMy favorite: luna68k - make kernel messages green to match other ports and show off color support.
- jmclnx 4y agoJust upgraded from 9.2, easy-peezy
- abudabi123 4y agoYes, sysupgrade was very gentle and forgiving. The 9.3 pkgsrc update/upgrade has an issue with version/patch 38 and 39 of pysomething or other which I suspect broke cns font width calculation.
- Panino 4y ago> The general NetBSD community is very excited about NetBSD 10.0 The upcoming NetBSD 10 will have WireGuard support, which is exciting. It's been in -current for about 2 years now.
- gigatexal 4y agoLove to see the *BSDs get some love on the front page of HN!
