These institutions are irredeemable
Let them fail. It will take a while but there’s nothing else to be done
- AnimalMuppet 4y agoThey have too much money to fail.
- feet 4y agoI don't understand your statement. Are they being propped up somehow?
- dekhn 4y agoYale's endowment is $42 billion dollars. Entire nations will rise and fall before Yale fails.
- sn0w_crash 4y agoAnd IBMs market cap is $118B That doesn’t mean they will be around in 20 years if their current culture persists.
- dekhn 4y agoMarket caps and endowments aren't the same thing- an endowment can be converted to cash through stock sales. market cap is just stock price * # of outstanding shares. Harvard has a long standing policy (which I think they finally broke?) of never actually spending the principal- they just spent the interest and that was enough to run the university in comfort. If these colleges go, it means everything else in the country (world) goes with them. They aren't going to shut down just because we're currently in a period where the students and faculty are terrified of stating controversial opinions.
