Pro GeoGuessr player uses an eye tracker
- themodelplumber 4y agoThat's amazing. I had to double check that my playback speed was still set to 1x, and he's talking about rifts and privacy blur on pavement...wow, novelty overload for me. But very interesting.
- glonq 4y agoMy hunch is that all these 'pro' geoguessr players on youtube are cheating somehow. Sitting on my to-do list is the notion of investigating whether metadata from the street image data could be refereced back to the actual geographic location. Then build a little app that snoops geoguessr sessions and reveals answers to the player.
- kadoban 4y agoSome could be. I don't really think most are though. They can tell you what they're looking at to make determinations, and they certainly seem consistent and reasonable. Trying to cheat would be interesting though. Figuring out the ways people _can_ cheat, so they can be recognized and protected against, is important for communities like that.
- gs17 4y ago> They can tell you what they're looking at to make determinations, and they certainly seem consistent and reasonable. Unless they're claiming psychic powers, I would expect them to do the equivalent of parallel construction, where they know the answer but have to pretend to find it another way.
- kadoban 4y agoThat kind of just seems like it'd be more boring and just as hard. You'd still have to know all the hints in order to explain them, but you'd have no fun of discovery.
- gs17 4y agoIf you're cheating to be a "Youtube pro", I think the fun of discovery isn't your priority.
- kadoban 4y agoYes, but it's also just not really any easier, unless you're just unable to explain why you make any choices (which would be quite conspicuous). So you'd still have to put in all of the work, and it'd just be more boring for a bit more speed.
- rasz 4y agoI have a feeling the tracker used has too much filtering (saccades) to be useful in this instance. It somehow looks too calm.
