Kate 22.08
- smolder 4y agoKate was my favorite editor all the way back in 2011 or so when I ran a KDE Linux distro. Good to see it's still kicking.
- forgotpwd16 4y agoNo big new features, only improvements and bug fixes. On the other hand KWrite got a major rework. >As mentioned in my previous post KWrite now is just a slimmed down Kate. This means KWrite is just a 200 lines main.cpp file that uses the normal Kate code base and just shrinks it down to a non-plugin supporting slimmer variant via some internal options.
- capableweb 4y agoSupposedly they support "VI input mode", but anyone know how good it is? Are the menus generally controllable with keyboard input as well? Usually, editors (like Visual Studio Code) have some basic vi emulation, but only supports the basic commands and also just for the main code window, so you still need to use the mouse for everything else.
- forgotpwd16 4y agoThe input mode is just for text editing (guess that is what you describe for VSC). For accessing the menus you use the common Alt+letter convention.
- mrlonglong 4y agoWhy is it named Kate?
- yarg 4y agoK Advanced Text Editor.
