England braces for 40C temperatures as experts warn thousands could die
- MilnerRoute 4y ago40C = 104F
- rasz 4y agoEngland = £249 = $300 portable AC unit in every supermarket.
- josemanuel 4y agoWell, can the power grid supply enough energy for 50 million AC units working at the same time? There is no simple solution for climate change.
- sdflhasjd 4y agoProbably, I'm sure we more power in the winter. Although it's likely they'll be power cuts as grid equipment overheats.
- cjrp 4y agoIn the middle of a cost of living crisis, with energy prices as high as they are?
- Daishiman 4y agoToo bad wildlife can't go out and purchase ACs.
- sdflhasjd 4y agoEasier said than done. They take up a lot of space when not in use, they are very heavy and unwieldy to move around 2 storeys, the windows we have in the UK are difficult to attach the hoses to.
- nly 4y agoThis. I was reluctant to let my partner buy a second tower fan in Tesco for £30 because in our tiny 2 bed London flat it's a pain in the ass the store them for the 90% of the year they're not needed. I relented btw. £30 is a small fee to keep the peace
- Xophmeister 4y agoThat’s the spirit. The climate’s not gonna change itself!
- suprjami 4y ago25C overnight also causes increased mortality? Every Brisbane summer for the last 20+ years has just entered the chat.
- josephcsible 4y agoI assume it's because everyone in Brisbane has an A/C, but most people in the UK don't.
- suprjami 4y agoYou don't need aircon for these temps, a ceiling fan or pedestal fan is sufficient.
