One reason to vaccinate is to make sure that you don't spread it. This reads as if you feel as if the only reason to get vaccinated is to ensure that you don't have to have it but that isn't worthwhile for you as that's at worst inconveniencing. For someone else it may be much much worse. It's for them those of us with good health vaccinate, not for ourselves.

- nradov 4y agoThe COVID-19 vaccines have only a limited and temporary effect on reducing transmission. While I would encourage everyone eligible to protect themselves by getting vaccinated, preventing spread isn't a valid reason.
- leksak 4y agoYou seem more well-read on COVID-19 vaccines than I am. I felt it worthwhile to answer GP because my interpretation of their comment was that not vaccinating to prevent spread didn't appear to be a reason they considered at all regardless of what vaccine.
- wonderwonder 4y agoUnfortunately the current round of vaccines show limited effectiveness at both preventing an infected person from passing Omicron on and from becoming infected by it after a brief period of time. Even the benefits of a booster are negligible a few weeks after application. Your reasons to get vaccinated while noble, unfortunately don't stand up to Omicron. One would have to get vaccinated every 2 - 3 months or so to retain a high percentage of protection. Something I am not willing to require of my family. It's similar to masks, perhaps they have limited effectiveness but the tradeoff of limiting my kids development and just the sheer inconvenience of wearing them is not worth it to me. If a store requires it I have no issues complying with out complaining as it's a quick in and out. Overall though I'm done with them and have not had to wear a mask except in a surgeons office for over a year.
- leksak 4y agoFair, but my read of GPs post wasn't limited to a Corona vaccines but also flu vaccines.
