Japan's justice system has it's flaws just like everywhere else, but they absolutely don't sweep crime under the rug.
- 3np 4y agoThe justice system may not but various other authorities certainly do.
- kafkaesque 4y agoYou should talk to Zainichi Koreans that live there more. This may be a difficult point to take in a community that views most things based on numbers and data.
- tjpnz 4y agoI've never interacted with a Zainichi Korean but as a foreigner who's reported a crime I can assure you that it was dealt with.

- tjpnz 4y ago>Please stop posting if you have never interacted with the biggest minority in Japan. Then perhaps you should amend your original statement about "most" crimes being swept under the rug.
- kafkaesque 4y agoHow do you reconcile intersectionality and systemic racism with low crime rates in Japan?
- anonymoushn 4y agoHaving strangers yell at you is the sort of thing that happens to anyone who goes outside in San Francisco.

- anewpersonality 4y agoIt's disgusting you were flagged by the hive mind, but I for one would like to find out more about why Japan is hiding crime.
- iratewizard 4y agoThere are regular efforts to discredit Japan, and I think it has to do with them being the model for "done differently and to better success". Better birth rates, very very few cesarians. Far fewer health mandates, better health outcomes. Cash-based economy, fully functioning without being subject to mass surveillance. Even better litter outcomes despite no public trash cans. They're testament to the successes of a homogenous society at the very least.
- chrisjharris 4y agoI thought the birth rate was very low? Did I get that wrong?
- iratewizard 4y agoBirth rates isn't the right word. Neonatal mortality
- cyberlurker 4y agoNo, you’re right. Im assuming they mean child mortality.
- 2143 4y agoDon't Asians tend to live longer and have better health in general? I don't know if it's due to something genetic, or because of something Japanese people do after they're born. FWIW, Asian Americans in USA also tend to live longer than other ethic groups. Now that I think about it, I realise USA might be a good natural setting to study these kinds of differences because there's a lot of people from a lot of places over there, unlike other countries where the population is more homogenous. Or maybe I'm wrong (I'm not from USA, but when I visited there I was astonished by the number of people from all over the world who were there).
- totetsu 4y agoApart from the extremes of heteromorphic differences that can occur between different populations of humans, and the small chance that a very small woman might give birth to a very large baby.. What does any of that have concretely to do with society being Homogenous? What evidence do you have that Japan is actually Homogenous? How do you define that.. There is great diversity in Japan...
