Amazon: E-cargo bikes to replace thousands of van deliveries in London
- Fricken 4y agoThe vehicle shown has too many wheels to be a bike.
- MonkeyClub 4y agoHa, good point, they're not really bikes! But that's a good thing, you wouldn't want Amazon cyclists rushing to meet their next drop time through a city that doesn't really care for cyclists. The deliveries could be delayed, you see, and KPIs would suffer.
- pornel 4y agoThis makes a lot of sense. The city center is so dense, it physically doesn't have enough space for all the cars and vans. The traffic is moving at bike speeds already. There's no space to park vans for residential deliveries, so they keep blocking the streets. There's no need to have 3-tonne vehicles for next-day deliveries of socks and USB cables.
- imtringued 4y agoThis solution is too simple, elegant and doesn't result in much publicity and money flowing into the pockets of politicians. I hereby demand that we classify these as heavy quadricycles that require a motorcycle license that is incompatible with car drivers licenses and also requires an additional trailer exam if you want to carry more than 15kg of cargo.
