A lot of stuff in life is hard to explain if you look for reasons why people are doing it, but becomes a lot easier if you look for reasons why they didn't do it before, or don't do it in other place we are comparing with. A lot of stuff happens simply because it becomes possible, because there is no need to look for motivation: there was always a motivation, it's just there wasn't a possibility. Changes in people's migration patterns is even a brighter example. Almost all of the change is defined by possibility: the will of people to move from where they are going from to where they are going to, always existed, it's just until a certain point they couldn't do that.
