Facebook Is Banning People Who Say They Will Mail Abortion Pills
- technih 4y agoSo much for the liberal bias at tech companies.
- MBCook 4y agoSo are going to be back at Comstock act stuff where mail is searched to ensure it doesn’t contain “moral contraband”?

- nathanaldensr 4y agoPeople had better be very, very careful mailing abortion pills. They could end up arrested as accomplices to murder.

- sshine 4y ago> [...] post the phrase "abortion pills can be mailed" on Facebook using a burner account. The post was flagged within seconds [...] Do these messages get flagged worldwide? Interestingly, mailing abortion pills is FDA-approved: > When it comes to the legality of mailing abortion pills, there are several telehealth abortion companies in the U.S., and in 2021 the FDA made it possible and legal to send abortion pills via mail. With the fall of Roe v. Wade, some states have banned that, or will: Arizona and Tennessee, for example. In Texas, it's a criminal act to send abortion pills through the mail. [...] Unfortunately, it is quite important to take emergency contraceptive pills (infant murderer pills) within 72 hours, the quicker the more likely they'll work, so waiting for them to arrive in the mail with the intent to take them is a somewhat risky choice compared to buying them at the drugstore in the morning.
- notacoward 4y ago> in 2021 the FDA made it possible and legal to send abortion pills via mail. Even if that prevails over per-state restrictions, I believe that in most jurisdictions it only applies to those with prescribing privileges. Your average Joe or Jane could get in trouble for distributing them even locally. Note that I'm not saying people shouldn't do it anyway. Sometimes defying the law is justified, or even a moral imperative. I'm just saying that we shouldn't claim it's legal. People should not be misled about the risks.
- throwaway34h37 4y agoInfant murderer pills? What a load of horseshit. Abortion pills and emergency contraceptive pills are different. Medical abortions (abortion pills) are typically performed by administering a two-drug combination: mifepristone followed by misoprostol. Medical abortion is both safe and effective throughout a range of gestational ages, including the second and third trimester. Medical abortion can be administered safely by the patient at home, without assistance, in the first trimester. Starting with the second trimester, it is recommended to take the second drug in a clinic or provider's office. Medical abortion should not be confused with emergency contraception, which typically involves drugs (such as such as Levonorgestrel or "Plan B") taken soon after intercourse to prevent a pregnancy from beginning. Stop spreading misinformation. - sshine 4y ago> Infant murderer pills? What a load of horseshit. Sarcasm doesn’t relay well in text. This wording seems to have triggered you — apologies. > Medical abortion is both safe and effective I don’t disagree. :-) > Stop spreading misinformation. Take a chill pill. They’re also safe and effective
- notacoward 4y agoAs horrible as it is, as much as we might wish it otherwise, some pills are illegal in some places. Offering to mail those pills to those places is therefore solicitation or conspiracy for an illegal act. That leaves a company like Facebook with very little choice. It's the same on every site including this one. (Go ahead. Try it. I'll watch and I'll enjoy watching.) It's the same as if it was meth instead of abortifacients, the same as if it was FedEx instead of Facebook. Complaining about companies avoiding legal jeopardy is like complaining about a zebra having stripes.
- mplanchard 4y agoI live in Texas, but plan on moving out of state soon to somewhere more reasonable. Once I do, I will mail abortifacients to anyone I know who needs it, including people who reach out to me online.
- madcaptenor 4y agobut what if you say you're going to mail camping supplies?
- josephcsible 4y agoThe people who usually trot out the "Facebook is a private company, so there's nothing wrong with them censoring and banning arbitrarily" line sure are quiet now.
