I don't think its a given that e-cigs are better than regular cigarettes. I was a smoker for 8+ years and an e-cig user for a short while. E-cigs remove several of the stigmas and limitations attached to cigarettes, thus leading to greater use. The chemicals in e-cig fluid have unknown long-term effect on the lungs, the byproducts of vaporizing those chemicals are even less understood. Odds are we'll find out some unfortunate truths about e-cigs in 10-20 years, meanwhile many of the consumers of e-cig products will have believed they were avoiding the worst effects.
