Disneyland is the same square footage of all the parking at Apple Park
- christophilus 4y ago> you can fit all 272 Apple USA retail locations inside of its parking structures Preeeety wild. I really hate car culture. What a waste of space and resources. Also, the sunk cost here is why Apple will have a hard time ever fully embracing remote work.
- aetherson 4y agoI mean, is it? Apple Park cost $5B all-in per a quick web search. I can't imagine that parking was a huge amount of that cost. The land was about $160M (again, all-in, not just parking). Certainly that's a lot of money. But Apple's net income from the latest quarter, not year, is $25B. I don't know how much lock-in we should expect from ~1% of their annual profit.
- jleyank 4y agoSad the largest green space on the satellite map image of that building is the walking area between the garage and building. Otherwise, the building density is too depressing to consider. I’m glad people find SV a good place to be but I can’t breathe there.
- solarkraft 4y agoSeems like they do a good job of portraying it as a comfortable green area in their videos.
- lkbm 4y agoPeople in the thread are all talking about Cupertino's parking minimums, which are a big and stupid problem in general, but did Apple try saying no? Cupertino is giving Apple millions in tax incentives to stay there[0]. This suggests that Apple has some leverage in negotiations. - wodenokoto 4y agoSo how much space does Disney’s combined parking use? It’s a bit of an apples to oranges comparison.
- fullshark 4y agoAll these things are at a scale I don't really understand. Was Apple Park's parking garage like 30?-60?-90?% empty pre-COVID?
