“ Despite admitting to FBI agents that he ran these so-called “booter” services (and turning over plenty of incriminating evidence in the process), Gatrel opted to take his case to trial, defended the entire time by public defenders.”
What!!!?
- jmckib 4y agoMy first reaction was that he's probably not in his right mind. I mean he also openly ran a DDOS service, which also doesn't seem like a rational act.
- charcircuit 4y agoI don't think he openly ran it. He just got caught.
- chalst 4y agoThe proceedings of the nine-day trial will give lots of coverage of his unique skills. When he comes out of jail, he'll have quite the resume.
- mwint 4y agoReal question: Who would hire him? I'm not really familiar with the job market for felons.
- yardstick 4y agoThere is a job market for felons with skills. Probably not this guy, given what he ran, but others like Kevin Mitnick served 5 years and was successfully afterwards. I’ll fully admit Kevin is the exception to the rule! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Mitnick https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Mitnick
- bsenftner 4y agoYou would be very surprised how much the upper realms of banking likes financial crime felons. The Federal prisons are full of them, and they go right back to the industry.
- pawelmurias 4y agoIs what he did that impressive technically? Finding 0days is impressive but it mostly seems like he was doing know stuff at a huge scale.
