All the arguments boil down to "I understand how this works, so it can't be sapient". By this argumentation if I am so much smarter than everyone else that I can figure it out, I can stop treating other human beings as people. They can't be sapient if I understand them after all. The only reasonable stance that will protect you in the future is to say "I have no idea", because it is the only stance based on what you can know.
