In Australia, thankfully this is as straightforward as a sticker on your mailbox with ‘No Junk Mail’ and/or ‘No Unaddressed Mail’. Since installing one if those stickers, the amount of waste coming from my mailbox has dropped off probably 90%, with the only unwanted letters now coming from politicians who pull my name and address from the electoral roll to mail out their campaign stuff.
- chii 4y agohow is that junk mail enforced? Do the post office check that the mail isn't junk first? Or is it just a placebo effect?
- PebblesHD 4y agoTwo different ways, most junk mail sent via the post office is unaddressed, and so it is in legislation that these are not to be delivered to houses with the stickers. The other is the usual paper boy who has been given a bundle to distribute, these are partially on the honour system, but there is a complaints system for companies that ignore them.
