So if you accept an offer at CB, give notice to your current employer, have CB rescind the offer, and now find yourself unemployed? Is that what's happened here?
- qbasic_forever 4y agoYes, precisely that.
- Ansil849 4y agoThat is just utterly outrageous.
- 762236 4y agoIt's better than firing them once they arrive, after relocation, isn't it?
- qbasic_forever 4y agoYou'd be eligible for unemployment assistance in that case. I'm not sure you qualify if you didn't actually start and only had an offer.
- ergocoder 4y agoYou do you. For me, that sounds worse. It is not hard to tell my current manager that I would like to stay because coinbase rescinds the offer. If your manager cannot handle this, then I have even worse news for you... You have a shitty manager that will screws you up one day.
- happyopossum 4y agoYes. Hopefully you didn’t burn any bridges on the way out the door - boomerangs aren’t unheard of or unwelcome at most healthy companies.
- googlryas 4y agoThis happened to a friend of mine(not with CB, not even in tech - a sales job) - he sued them and ended up getting a severance package for a job he never worked at. I'm not sure if it was just a settlement or an actual judgement against them though.
- matwood 4y agoArticle said they are paying severances.
- jasd 4y agoBased on a couple of LinkedIn posts I saw, that's exactly what happened. I wish they hadn't reneged offers for start dates that were inside of 2-3 weeks.
